Ipanema Beach meaning Bad Water in Tupinambá language

Ipanema Beach became famous for 1960 jazz hit “The Girl from Ipanema” by Brazilian singer and composer Antônio Carlos “Tom” Jobim. Ipanema means “bad water” in the Tupinambá language.
