DOG 02142022 Day 106

Canis lupus pambasileus
Wolves can be big or small. 100 pounds is average size. Their fur can be black, grey or brown in color. Personalities can be seen in their gallop and stride. Wolves can be raised by human as puppies, but always beware. Wolves live in a den. Wolves run in a pack. Wolf pups are born in May with 4-6 pups per litter. Wolves are social with each other. Before a hunt wolves will gather in a huddle to go over the game plan, singing and wagging tails and frisking about, and sitting on haunches.

Wolves eat voles, lemmings, rabbits, porcupines, marmots, mountain sheep, caribou, and moose. The wolf looks for the weaker targets.

A Call of the Wolf is a Call of the Wild.

Canis Iatrans incolatus
Coyotes have their own Call of the Wild. Coyotes weigh 1/4 that of a wolf (25 pounds). Coyotes eat mice and gophers and do not disturb many larger animals. They also eat grasshoppers and fruit. The Call of the Coyote symbolizes the spirit of wildness and remote country.
