20210828 DAY05 The Day the Mission Bell Came Down

Today we went to a activism campaign to bring down the Mission Bell and the Santa Cruz Mission. Mission bells are a symbol of oppression to the Indigenous People of California and bring forth historical trauma from the enslavement and violent treatment of the Indigenous People by the Spanish Catholic Church.

Because of the Spanish Missions of California many California Native lives and languages were lost. Native California languages still are spoken and we heard some of them today.
